Richard’s Memorial Dinner Teams
Rotating ministry teams cook dinner on the last Sunday of each month for Richard’s Memorial in Brownsville. The serving team arrives at Richard’s Memorial by 3:30 p.m. The team sets up and serves dinner to approximately 100 needy people that live in the Brownsville Community.
Habitat for Humanity
Building teams are organized three or four times a year to work with Habitat for Humanity beginning or completing houses for our community. Work opportunities are advertised in Sunday bulletins and the newsletter allowing congregants to sign up to serve on a building team.
Faith Promise Financial Support
Pine Forest United Methodist Church provides monthly financial support through Faith Promise donations to: Teen Challenge, Top of the Bottom Ministries, Pensacola United Methodist Community Outreach, and Amy and Jason Hubbart of Every Nation Ministries.
Pine Forest United Methodist Church partners with Beulah Elementary to meet the needs of families in our community through Thanksgiving baskets and Angel Tree Ministry. We also seek to meet the needs of the teachers and staff of the school as the needs arise throughout the school year such as school supplies, clinic needs, and treats for the staff. Mentoring students is also encouraged. Applications are made through the Escambia County School district.
Tailgate Ministry provides meals for the homeless every Thursday. A sandwich-making party meets on Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. where sandwiches (with all the fixings), chips, fruit, dessert, and a drink are packed in preparation for the next day’s delivery. A delivery team leaves the church at 9:00 a.m. on Thursdays delivering food to various homeless communities.
Our “Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart” project asks members of the congregation to “Fill a bag to feed a family.” Bags are provided to the congregation with Thanksgiving grocery lists included with each bag. Members of the church are also given a choice of filling smaller bags with staple items. Selected families receive both bags brimming with food along with a turkey, milk, butter, and eggs.
During the Advent season, missions encourage members of our church to sponsor an angel from our Angel Tree. Pine Forest congregants provide Christmas gifts for each angel. Our angels are part of the Beulah and Brownsville communities, as well as the girls from the Methodist Girls’ Home in Pace.
